It takes about 2 minutes to switch the blower components to the vacuum components. The real draw here is the metal impeller that mulches leaves as you vacuum reducing the size of your mulch. If you have a compost pile this could come in handy or it means fewer garbage bags by the curb if you want to go to the trouble. The brown leaves mulched up pretty easily for me, but the recently fallen magnolia leaves were still green and the Toro didn't eat them up too well. The moisture was kind of a mess really.

If you are in the market for an electric powered leaf blower and vacuum I don't think you will be disappointed in this model. I would have recommended my old Super model to anyone that asked and this one feels the same with a few upgrades.

Makita BHX2500CA Commercial Grade 4-Stroke 24.5cc Handheld Blower

My Makita Leaf Blower arrived quickly using Amazon's Prime Service. Even though the machine is new, and built in 2007, it started right up on the third pull. After that, it quickly starts on the first or second pull. There is no hesitation once it starts and from there on it just purrs like a big cat. Don't be fooled by the 145 MPH air speed from this tool. I thought it was going to be underpowered. But most leaf blowing tasks can be done at idle or 1/4 throttle. I think this is because when you carry the tool around, the nozzle is always close to the ground. Only when encountering wet leaves I had to use more power from the rather quiet engine. Oil (10W-30) is not included. Being a 4 cycle engine, no oil and gas mixing is required. The manual is poorly translated from Japanese, but adequate. At 10 pounds (wet) and with a sore elbow, I had no trouble doing my yard and blowing leaves from inside the garage. You can even blow away pesky cobwebs off windows and dry your car.

Not too heavy to use until after 1.5hrs. I read other reviews about using premium unleaded fuel. They were right. Starts right up. The blower works great. The vacuum's suction felt like 1/3 the blowing power. I broke out the rake and tarp at the end. After 2hrs of yard work, I could not restart. I opened the intake cover and turned the impeller by hand. A 1 inch twig fell out. Starts right up. I would buy this again and recommend to a friend. I gave 4 stars because of vacuum suction.

I just completed a full six hours of yard work, vacuuming leaves and mulching them with my new Worx Blower/Vac/Mulcher. It performed flawless. My wife was worried that I might burn out the motor by using it pretty much nonstop (except to empty the bag of mulched leaves) for so long, but the Worx handled it without any sign of strain. This was my first chance since Storm Sandy to clean up the debris. While the leaves were still damp, they had mostly dried out since the storm; nevertheless, the Worx vacuumed them up, and any small twigs mixed in, without complaint.

It was easy to assemble too.

2. This is relatively lightweight, easy to hold and maneuver, and feels well balanced even with the battery pack on. And I love the convenience of not having an electric cord.

3. Of course this does not have the same power as a gas or electric blower. But for my patio it is perfect. Ditto for my driveway. Neither has large accumulations of leaves or dirt, so this unit is just perfect. However for fall cleanup of lots of leaves on your lawn, this is not the unit to use.

4. My typical cleanup lasts under 15 minutes, and this unit has plenty of power during that entire time. I have not tested how long the battery will last on a single charge.

Bottom line: This unit works well for light duty use to clean leaves and debris off patios and driveways. For your lawn and extended usage times get something else.Read more

My Husqvarna 125B right out of the box started on the third pull. Once you let it warm up about 30 seconds it works flawlessly.
The only gripe I have about it is that the fan suction is so good that it sometimes sucks at your pants leg fabric. I see this as a minor inconvenience. I also see it as a show of its blowing power.... which is great.
